Writing the Flux Marine Website

Flux Marine is a company that designs, manufactures, and markets electric outboard motors and boat packages. As Brand Lead for Flux Marine I was charged with managing all things media: marketing, social, content creation, public relations, you name it. I started in 2022 and immediately managed and executed a full rebrand, which not only included new logos and media kits but a brand new website.

I designed the website and wrote the copy with the intent to educate users on a new technology, and ultimately explain the benefits of not just an electric boat motor but specifically the Flux Marine motor. I worked with the C-level executives to ensure I used the correct details and direction.

With the goals of education, information, a engagement in mind, I wrote the copy on the site to be inviting and informal, and yet authoritative and decisive. There were several ways to do this.

The first method was to create phrases to catch the user’s eye and drive engagement. Examples here:

Next, I wanted to ensure to let the user know what Flux's goals were, and how that could align with whomever they may be. More explanatory paragraphs helped to do this.

I used longer, more informational blurbs to describe the specific features of the motors, and elaborate on how an electric motor would elevate their boating experiences.

Often I would need to explain new information in a separate section, which would warrant a pairing of tagline and additional information to get the point across.

A completed website is nothing without visitors to experience it. In tandem with the launch, I designed social posts and a newsletter to alert the existing userbase of the changes, driving a spike in activity over 5x.
