About Me

Hi, I’m Zach. I write. I also have over seven years of professional experience in Advertising and Branding. You could say it’s the perfect combination for an aspiring copywriter.

 

Over the years I have accumulated the portfolio of copy and fiction works you see here. My official debut, however, was in September 2021 when I published my speculative fiction novel, The Certainty of Tides.

 

I love stories, especially those that help us find meaning in the world and make an impact. I’m here to help you do that for your brand, product, service, or anything else. Wrote copy for the website, newsletters, social posts, and ads for a burgeoning startup in its growth stage. Also wrote blogs, video scripts, internal communications, grant proposals, and other ad hoc assignments. Worked closely with C-level executives on direction, messaging, and ghostwriting.

I wrote, edited, and published my debut Speculative/Dystopian Fiction Novel, “The Certainty of Tides.” Over four years I designed and developed characters, constructed an intricate world and plot, and partnered with professional editors to revise and shift to create an entertaining and powerful story. I have also written short stories, short film scripts, screenplays, and television spec scripts and treatments.

Brand Lead

Led and managed all branding, media, content creation, public relations, and marketing for a fast growing startup business. Designed, wrote copy for,  and launched a new website, overhauled brand language, visuals, and voice along with implementing a new logo and accent color. Organized, planned, and produced content shoots with agencies and photographers. Managed all journalist, trade publication, and media contacts, and managed social media organic and paid post strategy, creation, and execution. Prepared and executed a rebranding and product release campaign, and wrote blogs and video scripts for custom content. Acted as sales ambassador at live conferences and boat show events, and captured content at events for later curation, editing, and posting. 

May 2021 - Sept. 2022

Brand Media Lead

Led direct publisher investment across KOHLER, Momentive.ai, Ralph Lauren, and GitLab, overseeing awareness initiatives (>$2MM) from conception through activation and reporting. Partnered with Media and Marketing client representatives to best approach upper-funnel branding, and managed various stakeholders to ensure campaign success. Led media activation in the re-brand of Momentive from SurveyMonkey as well as client onboarding of KOHLER. 

April 2019 - April 2021

Digital Invest-ment Manager

Managed a team of three on The Home Depot account. Oversaw 80 campaigns/year across 7 departments/clients, $50MM total budget. Balanced communications and deliverables between the various campaign stakeholders and managed vendor and client relationships. Oversaw integration of DCO and overhauled activation process to increase efficiency and accountability. 

Oct. 2018 - April 2019

Senior Digital Media Planner

Planned and implemented fifteen digital and social ad campaigns with $1MM budget across one quarter. Negotiated rates with vendors, presented finished plans to clients, implemented floodlight tags and tracking pixels across landing pages, compiled reporting, and trained one assistant and one planner.

Aug. 2016 - April 2018

Asst. & Associate Digital Media Buyer

Managed thirty digital ad campaigns of $4MM each quarter driving overall results 2x the agency benchmark, balanced relationships with partners and client, presented tactical strategies to client, brain-stormed and assisted in potential major content initiatives, trained two assistants.
